Hey there! How are you all?I know the credentialing process here in Canada is so tough. T-O-U-G-H as in a lot of pinoys(and majority of foreign-trained professionals are needed to study for a year before they can take the exam. Until now, my evaluation is not yet finished, waiting for their reply. I just pray that I don't need to study for a year just to take the exam. On the brighter side, hearing success stories of some who passed the Canadian PT exam is really inspiring...to anyone who passed, share your stories, please. I'm sure lots are interested. And to the aspirants like me, don't lose hope ok? And to those who have the chance to come here in Canada, apply to US NPTE instead...process your credentialing, take and pass the NPTE so you can work there where there is higher demand -and means faster evaluation and easier to be able to practice...o kaya if you want to stick here in Canada (due to some circumstances...like me lol! )daanin sa tyaga at dasal !hehehehe!Kaya natin yan mga 'pre! There are fsbpt testing centres evrywhere in Canada so once you become eligible to take exam, you don't need to go to US. I am eligible to take NY exam..(syempre much better just in case maisipan kong pumunta jan sa US diba?lol).I don't have NPTE reviewers yet...if u have used reviewers and you would lke to sell them, pls contact me .Thanks!

Hi. My piece of advice to all those who are planning their credentialling, expect the Alliance to require you to study for a year. Don't listen to rumors that they won't require Filipinos to study anymore. The minimum # of years of studying, for them to allow you to take the exam right away is 16 that is comparable to the Canadian-educated PT. In our education system we only have 15 years of studying unless you have Grade 7 or took up any masteral course. Hope to meet a lot of pinoy PT's here. ciao

Regarding Canadian credentialling evaluations, you will notice that the 16-year schooling requirement is no longer seen in the new guidelines. This is not a rumour. But then, though it's no longer stated there, it does not mean that it's no longer required. A one year of schooling in University level will be asked still. Masterals or other courses taken prior or after PT program might help. I know one who got approved for exam automatically (and passed) for having a Masteral degree (approval based on old guidelines) But then now that PT's are getting more in demand in the US for sponsorship, the best and easiest way to practice PT is try to process FCCPT (or other credentialling agencies) and look for direct employers or agencies for employment first (especially for those PT's still in Phils.). And if you are really willing to go to US, Canada is easy way ticket as stepping stone/ or for permanent settlement as well. Goodluck to everyone opting for Canadian exam! I hope Pinoy PT's here in Canada will get the chance to be more united as well...Pls e-mail me at greatguyjake18@yahoo.com

It really depends if you wanna stay here in canada to practice coz if you really put your heart into staying here, nothing and no one will stop you from achieving your goal in practicing here. i am saying this first coz there are lots who are in the middle of their studies then they realized that it's better to practice in US instead. I can't blame them coz if you don't have 16 yrs of schooling like 6 yrs in university, the result they will give to you is to study like 36 units or 10-12 courses!!!!That means more than a year or so of schooling and time and money as well!!!!I'm telling this reality so you will be tougher! Not to discourage...Good news is that so many have hurdled it & passed....Are you willing to hurdle that ?coz if not , don't worry my friend, it's easy to apply to US and practice there. It's in demand right now. But if you got 16 yrs of schooling, chances are that the Alliance will only ask you to study a few courses and that's not bad......GO FOR IT! Here's the address for evaluation procedures and requirements: www.alliancept.org -God bless!

actually I'm not the reliable person to be asked regarding this...but from what I heard they were asked to complete certain number of units/credits... so they were taking courses that will give them enough credits to finish.....usually they applied distance learning study

The earlier that you will apply for assessment the better so you will be able to start whatever courses they are asking for. But usually they require 2 courses (mandatory) Canadian Health Policy 1 and 2 from British Columbia Open University (Thompson Rivers Univ-Open Learning). These are online courses that will take you between 3 to 5 mos each. By signing a PLAR agreement(PLAR is the upgrading for you to complete deficiencies), you will be able to apply for these courses since the Alliance will give you referral letter for you to register. TRU-OL will ask you for TOEFL so you need to have that ready as well. There are a lot of Filipino PTs under working or student visa (thru caregiver program etc)but they can apply for assessment, I think if I am not mistaken.

and by the way, the number of credits you will complete depends on your courses you have taken in the Phils (Pharmacology and 5th year thesis are lacking in other schools). So if you have not taken these courses in the Phils, you need to study that as well. There are some leniency now as to credentialing,GOOD NEWS!!!!!WOOO-HOOOH! Before, you will be asked to finish 10-12 courses because of the 1-year schooling deficiency of a 15-year schooling we had back home (we're lacking Gr 11 and 12), but now the guidelines have changed recently, but this might be case-to-case basis but most of the recent applicants were no longer asked of the 1-year, 36-credit deficiency as it used to be, just between 6-12 credits...Goodluck!

distance learning study... OL study or the modules will just arrive at your door and study it. Then get a schedule for an exam, i think yon lang yong time na pupunta ka sa school.
Courses- yan ang tawag nila sa subjects that you'll be taking.

Paano po ba yung sinasabi ng Canadian Alliance na certificate of letter of eligibility to take the exam mula sa PRC? Yun po yung sinabi nila para bago ko i submit mga requirements for credential evaluation. Salamat muli in advance.

Any help/tips ay very welcome po.

thank God I found a website where we can share some info regarding PTs in Canada.. sa pagkakaalam ko po, hindi regulated ang PT Assistant sa Canada, so pedi pong magwork as PT assistant in Canada at walang kailangang lisensya....
I am currently a foreign worker here in Canada, but I was able to submit and apply for the credentialing. I have lodge my application just this december of 2009. wala po ako lisensya sa pinas at tama po yung sinabi ni levinci, hiningan po ako ng letter of elegibility to take the exam in the philippines from PRC.
Maverick
