hey, before you get dazzled by the offers of US-based recruitment agencies or even direct employers, please make sure they are represented by a local POEA-registered agency. there's a POEA memorandum about this. those agencies or employers not abiding by this rule are considered illegal recruiters! check out the POEA website www.poea.gov.ph for more info regarding recruitment policies, and for a list of POEA-registered local agencies. So I think GMMPC, APMI, Tristar Rehab, HealthQuest/HealthCrest, and Woodhaven may now be considered "illegal" by the POEA. Unless they are represented by a local POEA-licensed agency.

my two cents on this issue: I think we must be careful with the words that we're using on forums like this... aspersions of this kind ("illegal") may send the wrong signal to the parties involved and may further complicate matters between applicants and the concerned agencies. with the work visa/temp license issue currently boiling, we surely don't want the pot to spill over and scald everybody. you've mentioned in another forum (i think in that these "poea-unregistered" staffing agencies/direct hires or their respective applicants can coordinate these matters with POEA directly... I humbly request that you clearly emphasize this again on this forum. like you, we don't want the forum to misinform but instead educate those who are starting or confused with their work/visa applications. for the record (and I am not defending or am I an ardent supporter of APMI, HC, etc. ), APMI and HC have agencies here in RP to handle POEA transactions for their applicants; HC/HQ has 2 offices, here in Manila and one in Cebu while APMI sought assistance from a local overseas recruiting agency near the US embassy (my apologies for not remembering the names, as I am not an applicant of the former and the latter) to handle these matters for them. have a nice day... all the best
