PT GUIDELINES FOR US APPLICATION
STEP 1 Choose a State where you want to practice.
STEP 2 Find out what Commission (FCCPT, ICD, IERF, ICA, etc) they authorize to do the Credentialing
STEP 3 Credentialing [$300 (Credentialing only) -$600(Credentialing AND Visa Screen Certification)]
STEP 4 English Exams – TOEFL, TWE, TSE
(Find-out the passing score required by your State) (TSE $140, TOEFL –$140)
STEP 5 Visa Screen Certification
Before or after taking the English Exams, apply for Visa Screen Certificate at ICHP or FCCPT
( $350 for Visa Screen only without credentialing)
STEP 6 Apply to the State of your target. ($300-$350)
After the Credentialing Commission verified your credentials they will pass it to the State you are applying and evaluate it. After you passed their evaluation they will send you ELIGIBILITY LETTER (You are qualified to take Stateboard exam).
STEP 7 AIN Application
No fee needed. Once you are done with credentialing, download AIN application form and request for Alternate Identification Number. This is needed for FSBPT registration, without this number you cannot register for NPTE.
STEP 8 Contact Embassy to schedule for an interview.
(Ideally 2months before the target date of interview) ($100 – interview fee + P 500-P600 rate of call)
1st fill up the form DS 157 ON-LINE before calling the US embassy for interview.
STEP 9 FSBPT Registration ($350-$360)
• If you are prepared to take NPTE, and received the Eligibility Letter you may contact FSBPT to register for NPTE.
You have to take the exam within 60 days!
STEP 10 Authorization to Test
• Once FSBPT contacted and confirmed from the State where you applied that you are eligible to take the exam
they will send you the ATT.
STEP 11 Contact Prometric ($65-$70)
• Prometric is the one that you have to contact to schedule your exam (date of your choice, within the eligibility period).
STEP 12 US Embassy interview
• You must be approved of Tourist Visa to go to Guam.
• ATT & UPDATED Eligibility letter must be presented.
STEP 13 SUCCESSFULLY PASS NPTE!!! (Guam ticket & accommodation = $600)
STEP 14 EMPLOYMENT
Ideally apply to direct hiring rather than agency. Most of direct hiring reimburse your exams (English exams & NPTE). Employer/agency is the one who will file for your H1B working visa to petition you. If you already have Visa Screen and passed NPTE the processing will be a lot faster.
*Rough estimate of expenses (not included payment for school for documents, PRC, review fee for English & NPTE, transportation, etc.) = $2685
