Biomekanika invites you: Adapted Sports and Recreational Activity for the Differently-Abled February 19, 2006 1.00 – 4.00pm Clinic for Therapy Services, UP Manila Persons with disabilities take part in sports for the same reasons as anyone else. Sports, as well as recreational activities play an important role as a medium for self-fulfillment and personal identity. Physical therapists must be equipped to facilitate the participation of our clients in sports and recreation. This seminar will discuss the levels of participation of the differently-abled population in sports. It will also include concepts on physical fitness and motor fitness. This will also prepare the seminar participants for training adults and children in learning movement skills. Maria Zenaida Abanilla is the current President of the Philippine Physical Therapy Association. She graduated from UP Manila, both for her BS Physical Therapy and Master in Health Professions Education. She also underwent 12-week training in Japan on Adapted Sports. She is a former faculty member of the College of Allied Medical Professions, UPM. She recently passed the US NPTE, and is due to pursue employment in NJ, USA. Fees - Registration Fee: PhP 450
