Designing Strength and Conditioning Programs

A well constructed strength and conditioning program is based on the application of sound principles during each step of the process called Program Design. This seminar will provide a discussion of sound training principles and will highlight pertinent recent research on different types of training programs that are being implemented in various sports activities.
The design and implementation of speed, agility, and speed-endurance training programs will be tackled in order to maximize physical performance in sports such as basketball, volleyball and football. A discussion on movement mechanics of sprinting and competition modelling procedures to design effective conditioning programs is also included. In order to maximize training, various types of endurance training programs will be tackled in accordance to training seasons of the sport.
Speaker: Mitch B. Encabo, MPA(cand), PTRP, CPT is a Certified Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise. He is a professional member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American Council of Exercise. He is presently a member of the PT Dept. of UP Manila College of Allied Medical Professions. He was formerly with the Emilio Aguinaldo College -College of Physical & Occupational Therapy where he also served as strength and conditioning coach of the "EAC Generals" and was the head of the EAC Athletics and Fitness Training Program.
[/li][li]Resistance Training Program Design[/color]
The topic will cover specific steps in designing a resistance training program. Achievement of strength training goals as well as promotion of safety is of primary importance in strength training. Topics such as testing protocols, load, repetition, and volume assignments based on training goals will be discussed.
Speaker: Rodiel Kirby L. Baloy II, MSHMS, PTRP, CPT is a Certified Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise. He is a professional memberof the College Strength and ConditioningProfessionals Special Interest Group. He obtained his Master of Science in Human Movement Science specializing in Exercise Science from the University of the Philippines - College of Human Kinetics. He is presently the Director of Sports Development at the Emilio Aguinaldo College and is involved with the Strength and Conditioning Program design of the college's varsity athletes. [/li][/ul]
