REPAIR STRATEGIES:
Generally speaking, we make errors when we talk and try explaining our ideas. Speakers of English as their second language usually do not know how to repair their communication errors unlike native speakers of english. Most will repeat to say the words to correct the error or most will have long pauses that creates a gap in their ideas. If this happens, it will make them sound as if they are struggling to produce the language. Native speaker make errors also, but they are able to make repairs such as the of of " ah" to cover the gaps in the communication process. Instead of having a long pause, they sometimes use phrases to the degree that their ideas are explained. For TSE examinees, it is very important to know how to repair communication gaps in order to be successful in the test. Use the suggested repair phrases when struggling to speak.
