Hi there! I received my HPC no. last September 30 after 4 months of processing. The problem is I'm leaving for Dubai since I got committed before I got my HPC registration. How do I find work in UK? What route should I take? Can I go to UK on a tourist visa and look for a job? Is it easy to find a sponsor who will do the application of my work permit given that I'm HPC registered? Hope you could shed light . Thanks. mpt

Sorry MPT for a delayed reply...
CONGRATULATIONS!
Did you say, you're leaving for Dubai? As what? Are you going to work there as Physio? (PT). If you are, just go ahead and process your job applications when you are in Dubai as it is easier for you that way. The only thing you have to remember though, is that anytime, you got a job here in UK, you have to finish your contract and might be asked to pay for some "breach of contract" as a penalty for not finishing your signed agreed job...or depending really on your agreement with your employer. But what the heck? Better that way, than no job at all.
If you have been reading my previous post, you will find that I have posted some websites that recruits Physio. around the globe. And by the way, just 2 weeks ago, I encountered a Filipino PT who was hired by O'Grady Payton...you might like to apply through it. I think their office is somewhere in Makati...
If you don't want to go through agencies and would like a direct hiring, you may visit different NHS trust website in UK and send them your CV for consideration. I have encountered loads of foreign Physio. here who undergone the latter option. If you have an internet access, just search for "NHS Trusts+Physiotherapy Jobs+UK" and it will shows you all of the NHS Trust who are all looking for Physio. Job.
In the meantime, you need to continually top up your knowledge and skills with regards with Physiotherapy.
If you are considering of visiting here as a Tourist, it does'nt guarantee you that you will find a job unless, you will be sponsored by your own friend or relatives who knows somebody from NHS. Our NHS Trust have freeze on hiring overseas Physio. as their waiting list applicants is endless. Our Local Trust is very small, as compared to others...you might be end up in a more bigger Trusts, such as the ones in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester etc., I reckoned.
You have your HPC registrations now...you have an edge...but remember, Patience is a virtue so don't be so hasty! Goodluck!

Thanks Shine! I really appreciate your reply. ;D Yes, I'm going to Dubai as a physiotherapist in a private hospital hopefully. If this will push through, I'll apply from there as it is easier to find a job if you're presently employed. I emailed you using your address here but did not get a reply. I'm hoping we could stay in touch for i might need additional info (email ad: m_uypt@yahoo.com). You are very helpful. Again, thank you!

Hi MPT!
I did not receive any email messages from you...but then I might be wrong as I'm very busy and get hundrends of email correspondence everyday because of some egroups, forums and not to mention, junk mails...I don't really have all the time to sit down and read emails everyday, but I do reply to most important ones...
All right, then...I shall add you to my email list so we can keep in touch...
All the best!

I'm from West Lancashire, near the border of Liverpool...You and Eric's place are quite near. I'm currently doing Respi. and I'm rotating as well. I'm doing on calls for Respi., Ortho. and in Stroke Rehab. but I'm most interested in SCIs as our NHS Hosp. has a Spinal Unit.
So, Gara...are you static or you do rotations as well? Keep in touch! Cheerio!

hello po...my friend in canada (who im speakin to right now) asked me to join this forum today as i'm forever dilly-dallying in having my papers assessed by the HPC and lagi ko syang kinukulit ano gagawin ko...i guess i really feel scared (yan ata talaga ang katotohanan, at least naamin ko na sa sarili ko ) of new things...kc last year ko pa inumpisahang ayusin yung mga references ko and until now i haven't submitted it yet...i dunno how to answer some of the questions as well...it's a good thing i joined though as some of the questions in my head have already been answered here by sunshine...im working as SCA in Manchester at parang lately naiisip ko na impossible dream na lang ba ang pagiging PT ko dito...at least now i know i can get help here...i'll check this forum often from now on...

hi there!
follow the message trail under sunshines posts, it will give ideas on how to apply in U.K.
As far as i know there are no exams but you will be submitting some credentials ....a very tough one!!!! and then if you pass the credential evaluation it's either you will present an oral exam and then defend it. it's having an oral revalida or you will have adaptation training it's like you will be doing some internship works on the hospital .....
just visit hpc-uk.org for more...
More power to all filipino P.T.'s!!!!!!!!!!

hi guys, just reading all the posts in this forum. its been a long time since i last logged in. to give feedback, i have been working in the uk as a full time physio since 2001. yes its a bit tricky with all the application stuff, but the problem that you'll find is that the hpc changes their ruling almost every year, which is a bit of a pain on the bum! it is true that after submitting the required paperwork that you will be called in for a formal interview, THIS IS NOT LIKE A REVALIDA, it is more like a formal interview process!! the will only ask you what sort of training you have had in college and from there they will then determine if how long you need to do an adaptation training possibly up to 21 weeks in different areas, (orthopaedic/musculoskeletal, respiratory or neurology). or do a continuing study more likely research. Now for the sad bit, the jobs for physiotherapists have now dwindled unlike 2 years ago, wherein you can apply for a post anywhere and you'll end up landing a job, thats not the case now. so anyone who is working as a physio here better hold on to their jobs because there is not a lot out there. dont even think of going locum, its not that stable! not like it used to anyway, blame that on nhs!
